YAW
ASIYAMA -
WRITER DIRECTOR &
- Spirit
of an ancestor
It is always a blessing to return to this production. I have the
privilege of working with a team that feels like a family. I felt driven to write this play. The impact of slavery has always intrigued me since I was 8. I have often wondered what the world would look like today if the slave trade had never been. What would have been the shapes of families and communities in Africa? The burden of the guilt, as an African, on whether or not my family were implicated in this nastiness of history.
The burden carried by the descendants. |

STEVE McDANIEL
- MUSICAL DIRECTOR
It's a great privilege
to be working with Steve again on A Slave’s Story. He has been a busy man on so many levels. Lets just say he is very happy. Very Very Happy. He also has his long awaited album Lark finally on release. Finally the world has the honour of listening to a truly well crafted album. Most of us believed the album was ready a while ago. STEVE JUST WANTED PERFECTION BETTERED. Well, he has done it.
